New Year, Same You: How to Celebrate NYE in RVA by Personality Type
We've got five great options for eating, drinking and merrymaking on New Year's Eve. Pick the one that lines up with your vibe.
1. IF YOU'RE AS COOL OR COOLER THAN GARFIELD - PIZZERIA LAFERRERA AT DINAMO
If you missed the last Pizzeria LaFerrera pop-up at Dinamo, now's your chance for a redo. Jason LaFerrera and Molly Baker return to Dinamo for one night only, with three seatings--a noon-year's lunch, an early seating for people who want to diversify their party opportunities, and a late seating for people who want to ring in 2018 with carbohydrates. But this menu is more than just pizza (though, who really needs more than pizza?). "Dishes will feature house-made cotechino, bottarga, burrata, and much, much more" according to the event page. Throw in a house cocktail and a champagne toast, and you've got yourself a great option for lunch ($50) or dinner ($75).
2. IF YOU'RE A CLASSY CLASSIC LIKE NEIL YOUNG IN A TUX - NEW YEAR'S EVE AT SHAGGY B'S
The chefs at Shagbark will prepare some of their most popular menu items, including She Crab Bisque, Fried Oysters, and a Crispy Rockfish entree for this fine dining NYE experience. The $85 per person price includes four courses, with a few surprises. Wine pairings are available for an additional charge. Seatings are available from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, making this a flexible option for people with plans before or after.
We can't even keep up with you, and it was nice of you to return to the year 2017 just so you could enjoy another NYE celebration. Of course, you'll be eating a three-course meal prepared by Brittany Anderson, Olivia Wilson, and the BP team at Brenner Pass before getting "extra weird" on the dance floor thanks to the disco-dub-funk-soul-hip-hop stylings of DJ Kjell Nasty.
4. IF YOU ARE VERY FUN LIKE THOSE PARTY ROCK HAMSTERS - BALL DROPPIN' AT THE HOF
You've got your finger on the pulse of FUN, and that pulse is throbbing. Get out there and live your life while overlooking Richmond from the roof of The Hof. They're doing it Rio style, which means live music, carnival dancers, and a ball that drops the beat y'all. Early Bird tickets are a steal at $35, but even for the the regular $50 ticket price, you get a complimentary buffet, party favors, a rager party with an enviable view, and a midnight toast.
5. IF YOU'RE ON A DATE LIKE THE ENTIRE CAST OF GARY MARSHALL'S 'NEW YEAR'S EVE' - DINNER AT DUTCH & CO.
You're going to need a hip vibe, great food and exceptional service to make this a date for the ages, and luckily Dutch & Co has all of those things in spades for a very reasonable $55 per person, plus tax and tip. The first two courses are set; your choice of entrees and desserts. Drinks are additional.
