What's Good? Six VA Businesses Take Home Good Food Awards

This past weekend, six Virginia businesses took home honors from the Good Food Awards in San Francisco, California. The winners and their products are:

Timbercreek Market, Timbercreek Farm Duck Rillette (Apple Cart clients! WTG, guys!)

Port City Brewing Company, Porter

JM Stock Provisions, Beef Tongue Pastrami

Blue Bee Cider, Harvest Ration

Red Rooster Coffee Roaster, Ethiopia – Washed Hambela

Texas Beach, Bloody Mary Mix

According to goodfoodawards.org:

"For a long time, certifications for responsible food production and awards for superior taste have remained distinct—one honors social and environmental responsibility, while the other celebrates flavor. The Good Food Awards recognize that truly good food—the kind that brings people together and builds strong, healthy communities—contains all of these ingredients. We take a comprehensive view, honoring people who make food that is delicious, respectful of the environment, and connected to communities and cultural traditions."

“I am honored to win a Good Food Award,” Chef Tucker Yoder of Timbercreek Market said. “It is humbling to be recognized alongside talented chefs and artisans from around the country.”

Chef Yoder, who took the award for his Timbercreek Farm Duck Rillette says quality is key to an amazing rillette: “Rillette, like paté, is a dish steeped in tradition. The most important constant among French food is the importance of the quality of ingredients. With Timbercreek meat, quality is a given, which allows me to create with freedom and confidence.”

This award represents a wonderful opportunity for small food and beverage producers to reach a national audience. All Good Food Award winners receive:

1. A Good Food Awards seal for their winning product
2. Inclusion in national coverage via our media network
3. VIP invitation to the Awards Ceremony
4. Opportunity to sell at the Good Food Marketplace & Mercantile
5. Introductions to local and national buyers in the industry

Congratulations to all of the finalists and nominees for creating exceptional products in a sustainable way. This is truly the future of food!
